Ahwaz Field Ahvaz Field, is an oil field, with the NW-SE axis (parallel to Zagros Mountains) is placed in the NE of Ahvaz City. The NIOC has provided reserve estimates for the recently discovered Khami Group reservoir at the Ahwaz field in the Zagros Fold Belt, Iran’s largest field. Gas in place in the Lower Cretaceous Fahlian Formation reservoir is estimated at 990 Bcf, of which 700 Bcf is considered recoverable. Condensate reserves are estimated at 308 MMb in place, of which 120 MMb is producible. The overlying Dariyan Formation reservoir, also of Lower Cretaceous age, has 350 MMbo in place, of which recoverable reserves are given as 54 MMb. In addition the reserve was said to be capable of producing 150 MMcfg/d and 37,000 b/d, with the gas to be used for injection into the nearby fields. In July 2006 when the NIOC concluded its ''Ahwaz 307'' appraisal well, it believed it had discovered "remarkable" oil and gas resources in the Khami Group reservoir. The potential was first realized in the 1970s when two deeper pool tests of the Lower Cretaceous were drilled. However, although oil and gas/condensate was proven, the high pressures encountered prevented full valuation.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=NIOC details additional reserves in Ahwaz field - Iran )]〕 ==See also==
